- Fungal infections
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it.
Griseofulvin works by binding to a part of the fungus causing the infection in your body. This stops the fungus from multiplying. This drug also prevents fungus from spreading to new cells. These actions cause the infection to die off. Griseofulvin is deposited in keratin precursor cells. It is subsequently taken up by fungal cells and binds to microtubular proteins and tubulin. Tubulin is required for separation of dividing chromosomes, and therefore it inhibits mitosis in dividing fungal cells.
