Griseofulvin is an antifungal drug that works by binding to fungal tubulin, which disrupts the fungal cell's mitotic spindle and interferes with cell division. Griseofulvin is deposited in keratin precursor cells. It is subsequently taken up by fungal cells and binds to microtubular proteins and tubulin. Tubulin is required for separation of dividing chromosomes, and therefore it inhibits mitosis in dividing fungal cells.
