Topiramate 50 mg Tablets belong to the class of antiepileptic (anticonvulsant) medicines. It is primarily used in the treatment of epilepsy (seizures) and for the prevention of migraine headaches. It may also be prescribed as part of combination therapy in certain seizure disorders.
  • Helps in the treatment of generalized tonic-clonic seizures
  • Effective in partial-onset seizures
  • Prevents migraine attacks
  • May be used in Lennox–Gastaut syndrome (a rare childhood-onset epilepsy)
  • Can be used alone or in combination with other antiepileptic medicines
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it whole with water, with or without food. Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly without consulting your doctor, as it may increase seizure frequency.
Topiramate is commonly used in people with epilepsy to treat and prevent seizures, sometimes called convulsions. Topiramate is commonly used in people to help prevent a migraine headache but does not help decrease the pain of the headache. A migraine is a severe, recurring type of headache that causes intense pain and other symptoms like nausea, vomiting, and sensitivity to light.
