Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush, or break it.
Rifaximin works by killing the ammonia-producing bacteria in the digestive tract. This treats your infection and relieves symptoms of hepatic encephalopathy (agitation, confusion, muscle problems). This also helps reduce the recurrence of episodes of hepatic encephalopathy.
