Doxycycline inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by allosterically binding to the 30S prokaryotic ribosomal subunit. The drug blocks the association charged aminoacyl-tRNA (aa-tRNA) with the ribosomal A site| which is the acceptor site on the mRNA-ribosome complex.
