Ketorolac is used to relieve moderately severe pain in adults, usually after surgery. Ketorolac is in a class of medications called NSAIDs. It works by stopping the body's production of a substance that causes pain, fever, and inflammation. Ketorolac work by inhibiting the cyclooxygenase (COX), specifically both COX-1 and COX-2 enzymes, which are responsible for converting arachidonic acid into prostaglandins. By inhibiting COX enzymes, this drug reduces the production of prostaglandins and subsequently decreases pain, inflammation, and fever.
