Ketorolac is used to relieve moderately severe pain, usually pain that occurs after an operation or other painful procedure. It belongs to the group of medicines called nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Ketorolac work by inhibiting the cyclooxygenase (COX), specifically both COX-1 and COX-2 enzymes, which are responsible for converting arachidonic acid into prostaglandins. By inhibiting COX enzymes, this drug reduces the production of prostaglandins and subsequently decreases pain, inflammation, and fever.
