LIGNOCAINE+METRONIDAZOLE+SUCRALFATE is a combination of three drugs, namely: Lignocaine (local anaesthetic), Metronidazole (antibiotic) and Sucralfate (protectant). Lignocaine is a local anaesthetic that decreases pain sensation by preventing pain signal transmission from nerves to the brain. Metronidazole belongs to the class of antibiotics that prevents bacterial infection caused due to exposed skin surface of the anus. Sucralfate belongs to the class of protectants that form a protective layer over the affected area of skin, thereby preventing pain, burning sensation and inflammation in the anus.
